Guatemalan-born David Unger received his country’s 2014 Miguel Angel Asturias National Literature Prize for lifetime achievement though he writes exclusively in English and lives in the U.S. The Mastermind, (Akashic Books, 2016), his latest novel, has been translated into eight languages including Spanish, Arabic, Italian and Polish. In 2011 he published The Price of Escape (New York: Akashic Books) and Para Mi, Eres Divina (Random House Mondadori, Mexico). Other books include Ni chicha, ni limonada (F y G Editores, 2009) and Life in the Damn Tropics (Wisconsin University Press, 2004). His short stories and essays have appeared in the Paris Review, Delta de las arenas: cuentos árabes, cuentos judíos (Literal Publishers, 2013), Puertos Abiertos (FCE, 2011), Guernica Magazine (February 2016, April 2011, November 2007 and August 2006 and Playboy Mexico (October 2005). He has translated 16 titles including Folktales for Fearless Girls (Penguin), The Popol Vuh, Guatemala’s pre-Columbian creation myth and the work of Rigoberta Menchú (Guatemala), Silvia Molina (Mexico), Nicanor Parra (Chile), Teresa Cárdenas (Cuba), Mario Benedetti (Uruguay), Denise Phe-Funchal (Guatemala), Ernesto Cardenal (Nicaragua), Sergio Ramirez Mercado (Nicaragua), among others.
Among his children's book publications are Sleeping With the Light On (Groundwood Books, 2020), La Casita (2011, CIDCLI) and the forthcoming Moley Mole/Topo Pecoso (Green Seeds Publishing, 2021).
Unger has been a featured writer in book festivals in San Juan, Miami, Los Angeles, Guatemala City, Istanbul, Santo Domingo, Managua, Panama, Warsaw and Krakow, Bogotá, Lima, Prague, Buenos Aires, La Paz, Oaxaca and Guadalajara. He directs CCNY’s Publishing Certificate Program and teaches Translation in the MFA Program. He is the U.S. rep of the Guadalajara International Book Fair. In 2022, Penguin Classics will publish his re-translation of Guatemalan Literature Nobelist Miguel Angel Asturias’ El señor Presidente, with an introduction by Mario Vargas Llosa

Jose Fragoso, author and illustrator of "My Voice", has also written the children's book "La Increíblemente Alucinante Historia de Marcial, el niño normal", published in Spain by Narval Editores and available in the US via Cinco Books.
Jose studied Cartoon Animation and Graphic Design in Madrid (Spain) and Illustration at School Of Visual Arts New York. He is a proud member of the Society of Illustrators.
Jose loves to share his passion by teaching Illustration to kids and teens at educational institutions such as United Nations International School and Instituto Cervantes New York and Chicago, among others.
Jose is the in-house illustrator and story-board artist at Picture Farm Production, where he helps directors visualize ideas and serves as a valuable member in many of their projects, discussing the relative merits of many decisions from conception to the final product with a clear, strong creative voice.
Jose believes in Jean-Jacques Sempé, Sir Quentin Blake, Charles Addams and the Muppets and currently lives in Chicago, IL with his wife, two daughters and french bulldog.
